H. Ottomeyer and P. Pröschel, et al.Vergoldete Bronzen, Munich, 1986, Vol. II, p. 510.

The model of this barometer is attributed to André-Charles Boulle by J.N. Ronfort in his essay on Boulle and his workshop (André-Charles Boulle: die Bronzearbeiten und seine Werkstatt im Louvre, Vergoldete Bronzen, vol. II pp 459-520). Six different barometer models are listed, this one described as a "Gaine et Campane" barometer. Two examples are known: one is in the Musée des Arts et Métiers (CNAM 5612), the other was sold at Sotheby's New-York on November 6, 1982, lot 43.
