Description

Van Halen

Van Halen. Warner Brothers, 1978

Photographic record sleeve (catalogue number K56470), signed by Eddie Van Halen, David Lee Roth, Alex Van Halen, and Michael Anthony, including the white inner sleeve printed with “Made in Great Britain”; some light rubbing, more so to the top edge, small chips along the edges, light ringwear, some light creases at corners.

A signed copy of the record sleeve for the UK issue of Van Halen’s debut album. The band had begun recording demos for their first album almost two years prior to its release, but initially failed to garner interest from labels. After building their audience on the Los Angeles circuit at venues like the Whisky a Go Go and the Starwood, Mo Ostin and Ted Templeman signed them to Warner Brothers. The album’s initial critical reception was primarily negative, but it quickly gained popularity and became a major commercial success—achieving Platinum status in October of 1978. The record is now one of the best-selling albums in the United States.
