Typographic border on title; upper corner of title renewed with portion of border in pen facsimile, repairs to the following four upper corners. Modern green half morocco. First edition, second state of page 1, line 5. A scarce tract by Bacon on the legal unity between England and Scotland. References: Gibson 206; Wing B337; ESTC R17387

With first blank, engraved frontispiece portrait, title within woodcut border, with all 7 errata uncorrected, printed with line-borders, wide margins; slight browning. Contemporary calf, with "PM" blind-stamped on covers; extremities rubbed, joints weak. References: McKerrow & Ferguson 224; Gibson 116a; STC 1159. Provenance: "Pe: Middleton" (initials to front free endpaper, manuscript notes by him on endpaper and elsewhere) — M. F. Middleton (later book-label) — C.H.
