A small gold, enamel and ivory souvenir, probably English, 1775

of upright rectangular form, the lid set with an oval portrait miniature of an officer, by George Engleheart, hair en queue, painted on ivory, on a translucent blue enamel ground decorated with gold and white enamel swags, white enamel border of a concentric pattern, both sides of the lid decorated with a brown enamel band inscribed: SOUVENIR, the reverse set with an oval enamel plaque of Flora on a brown background within white enamel bead border, the interior fitted with an ivory writing slip and a gold pencil, apparently unmarked
