in the shape of a pear, enamelled in translucent scarlet enamel over engine-turning, the stem, the outline and the translucent green enamel leaves set with graduated split pearls and partially picked out in opaque black enamel, the sides decorated in translucent scarlet enamel over lozenge engine-turning and floral ornaments in white and black opaque enamel, the base with a further gold and black and white taille d'épargne leaf border, the inside of the lid set with a mirror, later pierced rose gold coloured pear-shaped grille, maker's mark in a vertical lozenge, PC3 unofficial 18 ct standard, later control marks including post-1918 French eagle's head, in modern red leather case
