oval with slightly curvaceous sides, the lid enamelled en plein with a shaped cartouche painted with a flower bouquet including roses and daffodils, on a translucent red enamel ground over engine-turning, within a brightly-enamelled folate border on an opaque turquoise enamel ground, the sides and base decorated with enamel flower garlands, the base centred with a scallop-edged enamel cartouche painted with a military trophy, apparently unmarked
