The shape of this guéridon is directly inspired by the antique models that came back into fashion in the last third of the 18th century and the early 19th century. The structure, entirely in bronze as on the antique models, allows it to be combined with precious marbles. Initially reappropriated in France, this type of guéridon was also popular abroad, notably in Russia, where a pair inspired by Parisian models is still preserved today in the Pavlovsk Palace.
