Our patinated and gilded bronze brûle-parfum or pot-pourri centerpiece is adorned with winged, trumpet-playing putti. In the 18th century, these were the prerogative of Mercier merchants, requiring the combined work of several craftsmen to assemble pieces in porcelain, metal and gilded bronze. In the early 19th century, production was more restrained, leaving room for the quality of the bronze chasing and the purity of the material.

A similar example in gilded bronze is known on the art market.
