The leading French flower painter of the seventeenth century, Jean-Baptiste Monnoyer was celebrated in the court of Louis XIV for his vibrant depictions of elaborate floral arrangements. In these effervescent bouquets, tulips, roses, convolvulus, and lilies fill two glass vases that sit on stone ledges.
