These portraits, which appear to have been executed by different hands, both originate from the circle of François-Hubert Drouais (1727–1775), one of the leading portrait painters of the age of Louis XV (1710–1774). The portrait of the young girl exists in a number of autograph versions by Drouais, one of which sold at Tajan Paris, 19 December 2007, lot 38, for €37,176.
