Georges Jacob (1739-1814), maître in 1765

A set of two bergères and eight fauteuils by Jacob of identical model was acquired by the French Mobilier National in 1863; one fauteuil was transferred to the Musée des Arts Décoratifs, Paris in 1953, and the bergères and six fauteuils were sent to Trianon-sous-Bois at Versailles in 1968 for the salon du général de Gaulle on the first floor. Now parcel gilt and bronzed, one fauteuil is illustrated in Jean-Jacques Gautier, Sièges en Société, Mobilier National, Paris 2017, p.181.
