The position of the right arm suggests that the whole figure represented Harpokrates bringing his right forefinger to his mouth (See LIMC, vol. 4, pls. 242ff.). Related marble figures of children wearing an enveloping himation are in the Villa Borghese (arachne.dainst.org/entity/1075561) and in the Vatican (arachne.dainst.org/entity/1079819).
