An Egyptian Bronze Figure of a Cat
Late Period, 26th/30th Dynasty, 664-342 B.C.
sacred to the goddess Bastet, seated with tail curled around to the forepaws, the finely modelled head with large eyes and ears pierced for earrings.
Height from modern base 14.9 cm.
French private collection, late 19th or early 20th century (based on marble base)
