circa 1st Century A.D.


carved on one side with addorsed masks of Silenus and a young satyr, and on the other side with the figure of a sea-monster (ketos) facing right.

26 by 23 cm.

Such two-sided reliefs are referred to in the scholarly literature as pinakes or as oscilla of rectangular form (see A. Bacchetta, Oscilla. Rilievi sospesi di età romana, 2006, pp. 555ff.).
