the lid applied with a rectangular enamel plaque painted with a brunette and a blonde putto in the same poses as the putti in Raphael's Sistine Madonna, in a chased gold zig-zag border and black enamel frame, the outer foliate border in black taille d'épargne on a sablé ground, the sides and base similarly decorated around central engine-turning, maker's mark GT within rosette, shield and lion mark, the left rim numbered: 1314
