Description
Patrick Kelly Stretch Velvet Animal Print Dress, 1989
Kelly worked in fashion his whole life, constantly commentating on significant cultural and racial discourse through his imagery and design. Starting in Atlanta, where he sold recycled clothes and volunteered to dress the windows at the Yves Saint Laurent Rive Gauche Boutique, and ending in Paris, where he became the first American member of the Chambre Syndicale du Prêt-à-Porter in the 1990s.
