A George III plum pudding mahogany and gilt-lacquered brass-mounted bureau-bookcase, circa 1760, possibly by Gillows of Lancaster


the broken arch pediment with dentil and pierced-fret detailing, centred by coronet with Prince of Wales plume, over a blind-fret carved frieze with conforming decoration to the arched mirrored doors flanked by Corinthian-capped reeded detached columns, the doors enclosing two adjustable shelves, the bureau section enclosing a fitted interior of drawers and pigeonholes around a central cupboard door, flanked by fluted pilaster sliding document compartments, the base with four long graduated drawers between fluted canted columns, raised on bracket feet, the handles replaced 

243cm. high, 117.5cm. wide, 63cm. deep; 7ft. 11 5/8in., 3ft. 10 1/4in., 2ft. 13/16in.
