Two multicolour gold bonbonnieres, Paris, late 18th century 


both circular, the first centred with a two-coloured gold chased central ornament on a sablé ground, within pellet and radiating chevron engine-turning and framed by a floral border alternating with ropetwist bands, the sides and base similarly decorated, maker's mark NAD, second charge and discharge mark of Henri Clavel (1782-1789), Paris date letter for 1784; the second, a two-colour gold example, decorated with flowers and beads over reeded engine-turning, scrollwork and leaf border on a sablé ground, the sides further chased with laurel borders,
