rectangular with rounded corners and baluster sides, the lid centred with a shaped panel chased with a bunch of flowers on a sablé ground, on a diaper engine-turned ground, within a broad finely-matted border decorated with roses above stylised shells to spandrels and scrolling foliage in between, bow-shaped thumbpiece, the angles chased with double flowerheads, engine-turned side panels, the base similarly decorated, the inside of the lid later engraved with a description reading: ‘Zur Erinnerung / d. 16^t Octbr. 1842 / C. v. F.,partially rubbed maker’s mark within leaves
