Description

The Vintage NASA Photo Collection of Philip Kulpa

[APOLLO 10]

THE COMMAND AND SERVICE MODULES VIEWED FROM THE LUNAR MODULE OVER THE MOON. 22 MAY 1969.

Vintage NASA “Red Number” chromogenic color photograph, 10 by 8 inches, “A Kodak Paper” watermark, press captions printed in purple to verso. NASA image ID “NASA AS10-27-387” printed in upper left margin in red; remnant of old tape to upper left margin with slight loss; minor toning.

The Apollo 10 CSM as photographed from the LM after separation in lunar orbit. In the present image the CSM was about 175 statute miles east of Smyth's Sea, and directly above the rough terrain of the lunar far side. The brightness of the craters and the lack of shadows show that the sun was overhead when the photograph was taken.
