This Modern &amp; Contemporary South Asian auction brings a curated selection of paintings, sculptures, ceramics and works on paper from the region’s most celebrated artists. The sale is led by a masterpiece by Sayed Haider Raza titled Terra Amata. Painted in 1984, the work was previously in the collection of Chester and Davida Herwitz and has illustrious exhibition history. Another seminal work we are privileged to be offering is Dentist (1999) by Bhupen Khakhar. Acquired directly from the artist by a close friend, the painting was exhibited in the landmark retrospective at Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofia in Madrid in 2002. Other highlights include masterworks by Maqbool Fida Husain, Francis Newton Souza, Zainul Abedin, George Keyt, and Ganesh Pyne. The sale celebrates the breadth and depth of South Asian art with a wide representation of countries, mediums and subjects.
