The architecutural border with flowers and cabochon is reminiscent of the 17th century style of border used in the tapestry designs after Simon Vouet (1590-1649) who was brought back by Louis XIII, king of France (1601-1643, r. from 1610), as first painter to the king and as designer of tapestries. See border type examples on tapestries from the Vouet series of the Loves of the Gods, Denis, Isabelle, Lisse et délices, Chefs d’oeuvre de la tapisserie de Henri IV à Louis XIV, Château de Chambord, exhibition catalogue, 1996, Les Amours des dieux, pp.170-189.
