拍品資料及來源

Lear made this drawing on his second trip to Sicily in the early summer of 1847, a tour that he carried out with John Proby, heir to the Earldom of Carysfort.   Lear was impressed by Girgente, writing to his sister Ann: 'Nothing on earth can be so beautiful as Girgente with its 6 temples - I speak of the old town and the flowers and birds which are beyond imagination lovely'.1
