This attractive and accomplished sheet is typical of Gaetano Gandolfi's graphic style. These types of studies must have been made as preparatory exercises for his paintings, although no direct connection here can be made. Other similar sheets are housed in the Fondazione Giorgio Cini and another comparable drawing was sold in these Rooms in 2011.¹ ^1.
