Sale, Christie's South Kensington, 14th July 2011, lot 43, where acquired by the present owner
Condition
The sheet has been adhered to the mounting card at each corner. There is a small loss to the extreme lower left corner. The upper edge of the sheet is serrated as the sheet has been removed from a sketchbook. The left, lower and right edges are unevenly cut. The sheet undulates slightly in places. There is some craquelure to the thicker areas of gouache towards the right edge. There are two raised areas of pigment at the centre of the right edge, and these have been slightly rubbed. There are some faint creases to the sheet. The sheet is slightly time stained. There is some minor surface dirt throughout. This excepting the work appears to be in very good overall condition. The sheet is held behind glass in a simple, stained wooden frame. Please telephone the department on +44 (0) 207 293 6424 if you have any questions regarding the present work.
