Condition
The canvas is original. The canvas undulates slightly in places. There is a horizontal stretcher bar mark towards the upper edge with an associated fine line of cracking. There are a small number of areas of very fine lines of reticulation including to the foliage in the upper right and towards the lower left corner, only visible upon close inspection. There is very minor and historic frame abrasion in places at the extreme edges. There are a few instances of surface matter and detritus, staining and surface dirt and the varnish may be slightly discoloured. This excepting, the work appears in very good overall condition. Inspection under ultraviolet light reveals no obvious signs of fluorescence or retouching. The work is held in a painted wooden frame. Please telephone the department on +44 (0) 207 293 6424 if you have any questions regarding the present work.
