Condition

The canvas is original. There appears to be a small, isolated area of light rubbing towards the lower right quadrant. There is some dirt to the work and instances of studio matter and surface detritus, and the varnish may be slightly discoloured. This excepting, the work appears in very good overall condition. Inspection under ultraviolet light is made difficult by the layer of varnish but there appears to be no obvious signs of fluorescence or retouching. The work is housed in a canvas slip and gilt painted wooden frame. Please telephone the department on +44 (0) 207 293 6424 if you have any questions regarding the present work.
