The offered lot has been especially made by Diego Giacometti for the current owner.
While relocating in a new flat in Paris, the owner, who was close to Diego Giacometti, commissioned him, among other pieces, two consoles for his entrance.
Standing on both sides of the double-leaf door leading from the entrance to the Grand Salon, one was standing on the right side and the other one on the left.
The facing walls being of different heights, Diego Giacometti, who was paying extreme attention to proportion details, altered dimensions of both consoles accordingly.
