Condition

Good overall condition. The plexiglass top presents with some light surface scratches, a few rare scratches and with some extremely tiny chips along the edges and the corners. One corner presents with a very slightly larger chip, not visually distracting. The brass elements present with some light surface oxidation, a few very rare, tiny and light oxidation stains and some light surface soiling. There is some surface scratches and some tiny indentations, not visually distracting. One stretcher between two legs is partially unsoldered at the junction with one leg. Sotheby's does not guarantee electrical components and suggests having all wiring inspected by a licensed electrician.

Philippe Hiquily produced the first sketches for this desk in 1968-1969 when he was exploring routes for a desk commissioned by M. Van Zuylen. It was only in 2010 that he finally executed this model for the first time.

The present lot has been authenticated by the Hiquily Committee, from which a certificate can be obtained on request.
