Arabic manuscript on paper, 462 leaves plus 1 fly-leaf, 18 lines to the page written in black naskh, important words in red and extensive commentaries in the margins, several diagrams throughout, some pages loose and possibly incomplete, in brown leather binding
Condition
In generally good condition, some pages loose and possibly incomplete, smudges and stains, the pages numbered in Persian on the upper right of the verso, minor holes, numerous seals impression and ownership inscriptions throughout, as viewed.

Nizam al-Din ‘Abd al-‘Ali ibn Muhammad ibn Husayn al-Birjandi was a well-known mathematician, astronomer and jurist who worked in Isfahan at the Safavid courts of Isma’il I (r.1501–24) and Tahmasp (r.1524–76). Copies of this work can be found in libraries in Baghdad, Hyderabad, Manchester, Mashhad, St. Petersburg and Tehran (see B.A. Rosenfeld & E. Ihsanoglu, Mathematicians, Astronomers & other Scholars of Islamic Civilisation and their Works ( 7th – 19th C.), Istanbul, 2003, pp.314-6, no.940, A9).
