Folio (345 x 230mm.), engraved architectural title, woodcut illustrations, dedication, woodcut initials, COLOURED THROUGHOUT BY A CONTEMPORARY HAND, FINELY BOUND IN CONTEMPORARY ENGLISH MOROCCO GILT BY LORD HERBERT OF CHERBURY’S BINDER (see Henry Davis Gift, no. 70), central arabesque gilt composed of smaller stamps of birds, urns and spirals within an elaborate gilt panel of similar motifs including birds on vines, later crowned monogram of the 3rd Duke of Buccleuch (1746–1812), the whole within double dog-tooth borders gilt, spine gilt in seven compartments with similar bird motifs, lettered “Gerhards Herb:” in the first, edges gilt and gauffered, 4G6 and 4I2 with marginal paper flaws, binding rubbed, spine slightly faded
