AN EXTENSIVE SURVEY OF THE "THREE GORGES" YANGTZE RIVERSCAPE. The 97 charts makes up a panoramic pictorial map of the Yangtze river, starting at Yichang in Hubei Province to Kuifo (volume 1) and from Kuifo to Chongquing, in the Sichuan Province (volume 2). This navigational chart, shows both banks of the river in profile, and gives detailed information on the gorges, towns and villages, tidal flows, and hazards. It also shows settlements and geological features along the Yangtze which can no longer be visited. When the Three Gorges Dam was completed in 2008, some settlements, archaeological and cultural sites were destroyed, displacing approximately 1.3 million people.
