Condition

Overall very good condition. The highly textured rippled background glass is executed in a naturalistic aquatic color palette ranging from vibrant green to aqua, which is accurately represented in the printed catalogue illustration. The dragonflies are articulated in vibrant blue with blue and lavender wings and bright red eyes. The shade with approximately 25 hairline cracks dispersed throughout, including one tight hairline crack to one of the cabochons, stable. The shade with some extremely light surface soiling throughout concentrated to the contours adjacent to the leadlines. The etched bronze overlay on the wings is in very good condition with some scattered traces of oxidation and one very small and minor loss to the bronze at the point where the wing overlays join on the body of the dragonfly, stable. The base is in very good condition with scattered minor surface scratches, abrasions, and light wear to the patina consistent with age and gentle handling. The base with some extremely light traces of surface soiling and oxidation to the recessed portions of the design. All sockets and paddle switches appear original and undisturbed. With a period finial in very good condition. A very handsome and striking example of the model displaying a strong, aquatic glass selection. The rippled background glass greatly enhances the visual depth, movement and tactility of the shade.
