Condition
The canvas has not been lined. Two fine horizontal stretcher bar marks corresponding to the central stretcher member are visible in the centre of the composition. There is a pattern of very fine drying craquelure throughout, however not too distracting. Inspection under ultra-violet light reveals scattered spots of retouching, including: - intermittent strokes in the left and upper framing edges; - one circa 7 by 3 cm area in the woman's skirt, including other scattered spots; - one area at the extreme end of her veil; and - some small spots in her right cheek, neck, and right eye. Otherwise, this work presents well and appears to be in overall good condition. Presented in a decorative gilt frame.
