Condition
The sheet has been hinged to the mount along all four edges. The edges of the sheet have discoloured in line with age. There is a horizontal tear to the upper left side of the sheet. The sheet is covered in a light layer of surface dirt with spots of dirt and foxing in places. Held behind glass in a simple gold painted wooden frame. Unexamined out of frame.

Bakst designed the costumes for Ida Rubinstein's production of d'Annunzio's Phaedra in 1923. The artist was inspired by Sir Arthur Evans's 1907 excavations at Knossos on Crete and reworked his earlier designs for Daphnis and Chloe.
