ENAMEL AND SEED PEARL POCKET WATCH, 18TH CENTURY AND LATER

The case applied with blue and white enamel and set with seed pearls, opening to reveal a circular dial with Arabic numerals, inside of the case engraved with the letters M A and three fleur-de-lys motifs, and with the letters L.D.S. D.M.M., fitted case stamped J.F. Bautte.

Formerly in the collection of Marie Antoinette, Queen of France (1755-1793). "Un écrin, cuir rouge, contenant une montre émail bleu et perles ayant appartenu à la Reine Marie Antoinette, et provenance de la Duchesse d'Angoulême (le mouvement a été changé). Cette montre m'a été donnée comme cadeau de mariage par mon mari, le Prince Elie, qui l'avait héritée de sa mère".

Suspension loop engraved 9672, case engraved with three fleur de lys motifs and the letters M A on one side and L.D.S D.M.M. on the other side. Seed pearls well matched in colour, of slightly cream body colour with rosé overtones, some surface blemishes. Enamel overall in good condition. Scratches to the metal consistent with light use. Together with a winding key. In good condition. Gross weight approximately 19 grams. Fitted case stamped ANGNE MON J.F. BAUTTE, FOSSEL ET FILS, GENEVE.
