Each set with a button shaped natural pearl measuring 9.68 x 9.80 x 8.40mm and 9.61 x 10.03 x 7.58mm respectively, framed by circular-cut diamonds, post and hinged back fitting.

Given by Duke Robert I of Parma (1848-1907) to his daughter-in-law, Archduchess Marie Anne of Austria, Princess Elie de Bourbon-Parme (1882-1940) on the occasion of the birth of her daughter, Elisabeth, in 1904. "Un écrin velours bleu ciel avec boucles d'oreilles grosses perles entourées de diamants (Settepani). Les boucles d'oreilles m'ont été données par mon beau-père pour la naissance de ma fille Elisabeth".

[A baby blue velvet case with a pair of earrings set with large pearls framed with diamonds (Settepani). The earrings were given by my father-in-law for the birth of my daughter Elisabeth].

Condition

Accompanied by SSEF report no. 98107, stating that the button-shaped pearls, weighing 5.57 and 5.12 carats, measuring 9.68 x 9.80 x 8.40mm and 9.61 x 10.03 x 7.58mm, were found to be natural, saltwater. Pearls of white body colour, one with rosé and green overtone, surface blemishes and growth marks. Diamonds estimated to weigh a total of approximately 5.00 - 6.00 carats, on average H-J colour, SI-I clarity, as gauged and graded in the mount, a few diamonds chipped. Scratches and tarnish to the metal consistent with age and use. Overall in good condition. Gross weight approximately 10 grams.
