RUBY AND DIAMOND RING, CIRCA 1902

Collet-set with an oval ruby, framed by circular-cut diamonds, size 43, indistinctly inscribed 1902 25/VI.

This ring was the engagement ring of Archduchess Marie Anne of Austria. She was engaged to Prince Elie de Bourbon Parme on 25th June 1902. "Un écrin velours bleu ciel (Hübner) avec bague gros rubis entouré de diamants. C'est ma bague de fiançailles".

Inscribed 1902 25 / VI. Ruby measuring approximately 8.20 x 5.55 x 2.79mm, red of medium strong saturation, with typical inclusions, some abrasions to facet edges. Diamonds bright and lively. Scratches to the metal consistent with age and normal use. In overall good condition. Gross weight approximately 3 grams. Pouch stamped A.E. KÖCHERT, WIEN 1814.
