Condition

The reverse of the panel is uncradled and covered in a grey plaster. The panel is flat and stable, with a vertical line of 6 supporting blocks which run the height of the panel adhered to the reverse, with associated retouching visible at the front. The paint surface is clean and the varnish clear and even. Retouchings are also visible in fine vertical lines to mask the grain of the panel, for example scattered in the Christ child's cheek and legs, as well as in the Madonna's face and hands. The network of craquelure in the figures' flesh tones is slightly pronounced. Inspection under ultraviolet light reveals the aforementioned retouchings, as well as some spots in her red cape. In overall fair condition. Offered in a plain, parcel gilt frame in good condition.
