Condition
The canvas is lined, the paint surface is dirty and the varnish is discoloured. There is some evidence of wear throughout, most visible in the darker tones, and some discoloured retouching is visible in the upper left corner, along the margins and to a small, old damage in the water below the ferry lower left. Inspection under ultraviolet light reveals little other restoration beneath the thick, old varnish, save for small retouchings in the building on the bank and in the sails of the fishing boats, as well as scattered in the sky, notably upper right. In overall good condition. Offered in a carved and gilt wood frame with some losses.
