Condition

Oil on canvas. Strip lined or with a very old lining. There are 9 patches on the reverse and 4 pieces of canvas have been stitched together to create this large scale canvas. These seams are visible on the front of the work, especially that at upper right and the vertical seam extending at the left side. The surface is covered by a textured web of craquelure; scattered stable losses associated to this craquelure are visible throughout the work, especially at center. White abrasions, or turned varnish, visible at lower right corner and in the fowl at lower center. The surface likely dirty, and covered in a dirty varnish. Under UV light, the majority of the work is covered by a green fluorescing varnish. Scattered areas of florescence are visible throughout. There is also strengthening to the shadows.
