Condition
The medium in both works is good and stable. In the 'Landscape with Cattle, Figures and Cottage Beyond' there are a number of small areas of discolouration and stains in the sky.

The works in the present and following lot are from a group of thirteen finished sketches by Thomas Gainsborough's nephew and pupil Gainsborough Dupont. Of this group, eight were sold at Sotheby's in 1973, five are held at the Yale Center for British Art, New Haven, two are in the Henry E. Huntington Library and Art Gallery, San Marino, and a further two are in Gainsborough's House, Sudbury.
