拍品資料及來源

Louis Delanois is often viewed as one of the pioneers of the Louis XVI style in chair design, chiefly because of the sets of seat furniture with medallion backs and straight legs he supplied to the king's mistress Madame Du Barry at Versailles and the Pavillon de Louveciennes in the late 1760s.  This pair dates from early in the maker's career and represents the final stage of the classic Louis XV silhouette before being superseded by neoclassical forms.
Dating in parts to the 13th century, Powis Castle on the Welsh Borders has been the seat of the Herbert family, Earls of Powis, since the late 16th century.  It is now administered by the National Trust.
