Condition

Losses and flaking to gilding throughout, with a few repaired breaks and small losses to carved decoration. The largest of these is a section approx. 2.5 in. in length with residue of old glue. The majority of the carving intact however and of high quality. Backgrounds have been re-painted in grey, with areas of lifting and losses to the paint surface. later plates with some small foxing and losses to silvering but in good condition . Painted canvases with areas of restoratioin and overpainting; one with some craquelure to painted surface, the other with flaking and some small losses to paint surface, the largest of approx. 2 in. Extremely rich and decorative set and a rare survival.
