the helmet embossed and engraved with dragons among clouds, gilt kuwagata and gilt triple hollyhock leaf mon, two-tier iron ita-shikoro with mon, iron menpo with chain mail yodarekake with mon, along with a Yukinoshita-do gusoku, signed Myochin Munetae and dated 1803 in the style of Yukinoshita Hisaie, the five-section Yukinoshita-style iron cuirass, sheet iron sode decorated with gold and silver inlaid dragons and deities, on the cuirass a central mitsua-aoi mon, the three deities Marishi-Ten, Benzai-Ten, and Daikoku-Ten, the kusazuri formed of itazan, shino-gote, ita haidate, shino sune-ate, with armour box
Condition
The kabuto has slight surface pitting and rust. The lacquer to the underside of the peak is damaged, and the iron shikiro is lined on the underside with velvet. The mempo has surface wear. The iron sode and do have some surface rust and pitting, the leather lacing slightly stained in places, some of the cord fitting attachments damaged. Please note all armours by the nature of their use and age have some old wear overall.
