the rectangular keyaki wood box with overhanging cover and rounded rim decorated in gold, silver and black hiramaki-e, takamaki-e and inlaid in coloured ceramic with an owl perched in branches of magnolia, the rim lacquered with scrolling foliage, the interior of the cover with a mask of an old man and storage box, fitted with copper gilt water dropper and slate with fundame rims

Condition
This suzuribako is overall in good condition with some minor surface wear. There is a slight crack to one of the ceramic leaves but this may have occurred in the firing. There is slight wear to the fundame rims and minor chips to the ink-slate. The base with some old surface wear and slight scratches.
