the rectangular box with overhanging cover and canted edge, decorated in gold hiramaki-e and takamaki-e, hirame and inlaid in mother-of-pearl on a seigai-ha (blue sea wave) ground, with a dragon chasing a flaming pearl among clouds, the three-clawed dragon, with finely detailed golden scales, appears within gold clouds above finely drawn waves in dark red lacquer, the dragon and clouds rendered in gold and iroe takamaki-e, kirigane, kimpun and aogai, with glass inlays in the dragon’s eyes

Condition

There is some slight wear to the base. The interior of the lower part has minor wear to the fundame rims on the upper edge. There is some minor wear to the cover including minute pieces of foil lacking from the clouds.
