This bowl is in good condition, but does have quite a number of scratches to the glaze to the interior and some to the exterior.

本盞釉色烏黑，兔毫紋細緻筆直，誠為珍品。釉面溫潤柔亮，保存良好，見證本品歷來珍重收藏。施釉勻稱平整，無釉聚一邊之像，足見瓷匠造詣，彰顯器型完美、盌足平整。建盞黑釉耀眼，釉色變化千奇百樣，窰燒時釉中氣泡爆裂，流釉成絲絲細紋結晶，稱之兔毫，或釉面圓點緻密之樣，稱為油滴，色調紅褐至耀藍皆可見。宋徽宗重文愛藝，茶學造詣且精， 對於福建茶葉及建陽茶盞均甚傾愛，並著《大觀茶論》（1107年），曰：「盞色貴青黑，玉毫條達者為上，取其燠發茶採色也」 黑釉茶盌多藏於佛寺，用之奉茶以養身心，並作供佛儀典之器，茶盌質樸素雅，尤為合適。盞沿下一圈微斂，為持用方便而設，胎釉厚重，舉而不燙，茶溫久恆，釉黑潤亮，托襯茶面細沫，黑白相映，瞬息美哉。

福建建窰黑釉茶盌之賞鑒，與日本茶道宗師與收藏家息息相關。建窰茶盌及福建茶葉，或於宋代由訪華僧人帶回日本。如此茶盌，自燒成一刻始便廣得崇敬。建窰黑釉茶盌，日人以浙江北部臨安天目山命名，稱之「天目」。臨安天目山現為自然保護區，以巨杉聞名。黑釉茶盌之日文名稱「天目」廣為人知，故此類黑釉器盞通稱「天目」。

本盞品質上乘，極為珍罕，可比較數件兔毫建盞，釉色、紋理各異。比較一例，口沿亦帶金屬邊稜，曾展出於《唐物天目: 福建省建窯出土天目と日本伝世の天目 : 特别展》，京都茶道資料館與熱海市MOA美術館，1994年，編號6。另比一例，比本盌較為嬌小，名古屋德川美術館藏品，出處同上，編號16。此展覽圖錄涵蓋多種建盞品樣，記載日本收藏之稀有珍品，包括數件重要傳世「天目」茶盞，存藏日本，與一件由建窰出土瓷片重塑之大器並列。比較另一兔毫「天目」茶盞名品，售於倫敦蘇富比2011年5月11日，編號7。另比一例，先後為味杏堂（約1615-1690年）及藤田德次郎珍藏，售於倫敦蘇富比2016年11月9日，編號108；再比一例，無金屬邊稜，出自紐約大都會藝術博物館收藏，曾展出於哈佛大學展覽，1996年，圖載於Mowry，前述出處，編號83。
