the shallow rounded sides rising from a short tapered foot to an everted rim, painted in various tones of cobalt on a rich yellow ground, the interior painted with a medallion enclosing a leafy branch bearing two five-petalled gardenia flowers, encircled in the cavetto with branches of pomegranate, crab apple, grape and a bouquet of lotus, between double line borders, the underside with a continuous scroll of seven large blooming roses borne on a foliate stem, between double lines at the rim and foot, the base left white and inscribed in underglaze blue with a six-character mark within double circles, Japanese wood box
Condition
The dish has a restored two part semi-circular break to the rim (approx. 6.5 x 3 cm) and another adjacent break (approx. 3.5 x 2.5 cm), covered by an area of restoration to the glaze approx. 16.5 x 9 cm. There is a hairline crack to the rim (approx. 8 cm). The foot rim has a small restored area (approx. 6 x 1 cm). There are minor iron spots.

中國瓷器甚少以梔子花為飾，幾乎僅見此圖案布局。梔子花清麗脫俗，芳香馥郁，雖無吉祥寓意，然深受古代仕女鍾愛。其用途廣泛，如簪於髮間、入茶浸泡，或作妝粉原料。梔子花果實加工後可調出黃色或橘色染料，亦可入藥。 黃地青花，始見於宣德一朝，中有間斷，成化年間復燒。宣、成兩朝，盤底多素胎無釉，外口沿下長方框內橫書年款。弘治、正德年間，梔子花紋盛極一時，然至嘉靖一朝，僅出數例，此後停燒。
本品盤底帶六字年款，兼且尺寸龐大，甚為珍罕，據現時記載僅一例，北京出土，現存於北京首都博物館，圖載於《中國陶瓷全集》，卷13，上海，1999年，圖版147。清宮舊藏一例，尺寸較大（29.5公分），帶六字款，現存於北京，圖載於《故宮博物院藏文物珍品全集．青花釉裏紅（中）》，上海，2000，圖版232，同書並載另一例，尺寸較小，盤底帶四字款，圖版233。倫敦大英博物館收藏數例，尺寸較小，帶六字款，載於Jessica Harrison-Hall，《Ming Ceramics in the British Museum》，倫敦，2001年，圖版8:23；另比一例，藏於上海博物館; 載於陸明華，《上海博物館藏研究大系.明代官窑瓷器》，上海，2007年，圖版1-41；再比一例，玫茵堂收藏，康蕊君，《玫茵堂藏中國陶瓷》，倫敦，1994-2010年，卷2，圖版683，售於香港蘇富比2012年10月9日，編號43。
