the rounded sides rising from a concave foot, painted to the sides in inky washes of cobalt blue with peonies borne on the same continuous scroll surrounded by fleshy leaves and attendant buds, with a band of classic scroll and lappets at the foot and a band of lotus scrolls at the rim, the underglaze blue six-character mark inscribed horizontally below the rim
Condition
There's a 'Y' shaped crack from the rim to the body, one branch is measuring 7cm. long and the other one is measuring 3cm. long.

本水盂造型典麗，青花濃艷，紋飾細緻，持於手中，甚為適意，乃宣德御瓷珍品佳例。此器形述於Archibald Brankston，《Early Ming Wares of Chingtechen》，北京，1938，頁25，作者論述，此為凈水盌，盛載凈水，用於靜禱之時，尺寸小巧，器形渾圓，置於掌心，安適稱意。 可比較數例，見於各大重要博物館及私人收藏，其一乃清宮舊藏，現存於北京，載於《故宮博物院藏文物珍品全集．青花釉裏紅（上）》，香港，2008，圖版130，同書並載另一例，高足盌，宣德年器並款，用處與本品相近，圖版131；台北國立故宮博物院收藏亦收藏一例，曾展於《明宣德瓷器特展目錄》，台北，1980年，編號20；另比一例，錄《出光美術館蔵品図錄．中国陶磁》，東京，1987 年，圖版636；例四出自大維德爵士伉儷收藏，曾展於《Exhibition of Chinese Art》，Palazzo Ducale，威尼斯，1954年，編號639。尚可比較數例，曾現身拍賣場，其一出自仇焱之收藏，兩度售於香港蘇富比1981年5月19日，編號402及1994年5月3日，編號40；其二曾展於日本陶瓷學會《Inaugural Exhibition》，廣島，1954年，編號14，售於香港佳士得2012年5月30日，編號4056；其三售於香港蘇富比2005年5月2日，編號508。
